Ha! I once wrote about how, since I was lacking a church, I went to Hobby Lobby and found comfort in their signs and plaques.

I guess I'm not the only one!

P.S. Have a Church now. Might miss Hobby Lobby?

Uhh,...most folks here obviously have never worked at a Hobby Lobby! As an insider, I know. It is NOT all about God, unless of course one thinks that God is little scraps of green paper with dead president's pictures on them. It is simply a greed driven corporation, nothing more. Managers demand more and more profit, and hence more and more work from fewer employees. They demand the impossible and make threats to try and "motivate" the workers. It's just evil, greedy retail in the guise of some "Christian" organization. Wolves in sheep's clothing. All of this flows downhill from corporate headquarters. The owners may not be aware of the practices of lower district/store managers. But then again, THEY are the ones making billions of dollars. So they would certainly turn a blind eye to greed and deny it all.
Hobby Lobby routinely demands workers to work extra hours to get tasks done, then they simply cut hours the next week in order to avoid paying us overtime. We don't get to use vacation time, if we are lucky enough to get a day here and there that we EARNED, they hold back on paying us for those days. I could go on and on,...but I have to leave for that place soon.(Don't be late! Or you suffer for it.)
In closing I will however say this. About 90% of the merchandise they peddle comes from Communist China. Certainly some of that stuff is made in concentration camps by the "politically incorrect" (A term coined by the Chinese, by the way.)
As a Christian, I can not reconcile working or shopping at a place that literally uses free labor in a communist dictatorship. There are people in camps in China who's only crime was owning a Bible, or having prayer meetings in their homes. Their only "crime" was being a Christian, and places like Hobby Lobby are making billions of dollars from their blood, sweat and tears.

I love Hobby Lobby and miss it so, ...I moved to California where they had none and I was sad but learn that Hobby Lobby brought the crystal cathedral earlier this year and my heart warmed knowing that they would build here soon. They have one store 2 hours away from me, I am just buying time for when one comes closer than my finace can quit hearing me complain about my lack of crafting because Michaels and Joanne I do love but like said...Hobby Lobby has it all...and whenever people use to ask me, "do you know when I can get (fill in any strange and random thing)?", I always replied with, "have you tried Hobby Lobby."

I was honestly kidding about the dirty, but abjectly ridiculous when it comes ot corporate poo isn't uncommon.

And now I need to find a Hobby Lobby and look for that sign. That's awesome. I wonder why it's there, though. Tragic accident?

I've worked at Michaels for several years now, am a Christian, and there's a Hobby Lobby right down the road. I can attest to the "feeling dirty" just for working at the "secular" craft store. You know, the one that won't give you half off your $300 order because it's for VBS. I went into said Hobby Lobby once and actually felt like a spy. The most interesting thing to me, though, was a sign on the front door that said "No high heels please" with a picture of a high-heeled shoe with the no smoking slash through it. Is this at all Hobby Lobbies? That seems a little crazy to me.

As a former Hob Lob employee, I can speak from both sides of the fence...I love to shop @ Hobby Lobby and do so often. I loved when I was working there and had the added benefit of employee discounts. It helped to make the low pay worth the hard work. And now about those pay raises. Even though I believe that corporate had good intentions...when they bumped up the pay of their employees it was only full-time employees. Therefore, those who may have worked part-time for the company for 5 years or more did not get those raises. Whereas, employees who may have been with the company for less than 1 year--immediately were given the $10 per hour pay. I admire the Green family and what they try to do as Christians and businessmen in a very secular world. Unfortunately, they have lost touch with the people who helped to make them successful--the hard-working people who love working for Hobby Lobby because they love the whole concept of the store, itself.

Sadly, an ex-employee in Alabama
