Pastors these days mess a whole lot of folks up. Mainly most seem to be entirely blind about the nature of God's Word. Many develop sermons and studies from Old Testament accounts and rather that drawing out all the connective linkages with other scriptures, amazing listeners with how Christ is woven with gospel truth throughout, they will instead pop the lid off some canned sermon typically highlighting "three take home points" about this and "four whatevers about such and such" mainly a bunch of PC brain dead psycho babble dealing with non Biblically described strengths or shortcomings of various key charactersin Scripture, their relationships with each other and what they did right or wrong and how you should apply his "pints" to your own life!!! Stuff like this makes me seriously want to vomit. COME ON NOW! The Bible is NOT some kind of self improvement workbook!! it is God's alarming message for mankind meant to warn the world and instruct the child of God as to the nature of God, the delimna of mankind, his failure and hopless estate outside of the carefully planned one and only solution which is the cover to cover Christ and Christ crucified, the ONE the ONLY solution! And it's purpose is NOT as window into strange cultures and customs which must be understood acording to the schooled teacher learned in understanding such so they can be properly related to by modern man ... that is sheer nonsense, the Bible IS WRITTEN TO US TODAY requiring minimal explanation only on occasion. If you ask me I say the job of the preacher is as a WATCHMAN, keeping his nose to the wind eyes and ears peeled and straining onto the Living Word of truth on behalf of his fellow man. Ever vigilant of the Sword, ever mindful of the warfare confronting the flock of Christ. Always feeding ever warning. NEVER filtering God's message to us through our modern "enlighted" understandings. THAT is how the gay agenda worked its way into denominations. Today the corporate church ie congregations with a street address and a tax exempt status etc is no longer with God's blessings, Like the failing churches highlighted in Revelation the churches have strayed but unlike the sparks of hope yet evident in those, todays congregations are dead altogether, even the most hopeful of yesteryear are COLD dead corpses, long since spewed from the mouth of Christ as unpalatable. How did we let this happen! How did the tares choke out all the wheat? Satan's ministers crept right in under the noses of more and more worldly congregations always wresting, twisting, watering down until right is wrong and wrong is right. Indeed the Abomination has worked his work, God gave it all over to a new head... the tribulation of these days has tortured the child of God, has driven him one by one to FLEE! The ugly thing prophesied has indeed come to pass! Who could have seen this happening long ago? Not so long ago there was even some Godly rebellion to the apostasy of Rome. What happened there? It was cut short again with tares freezing half baked "confessions' of greatly improved yet still sin cursed doctrines that gelled in various forms to become stumbling blocks to further correction ... the subtlety! the mastery of the deceptions! Can you see them! FLEE to the hills! Flee and don't look back! God has given them up! Flee!

My first pastor on coming home to church was Jim from Harvest Church in Warner Robins, GA. Thank God he messed me up, and my husband too! The first lesson we ever heard at his church was Faith in Stressful Times, and let me tell you, when your marriage has been less than good for a decade and your husband has just returned from a year long deployment and you're not sure you even WANT your marriage to survive? yeah, that's a stressful time!

But, he messed us up. And he brought us into a new relationship with God and each other. What a blessing it is to find a pastor who speaks to your heart!

This is funny in retrospect because last week in my bible study we actually looked at one of Chan's sermons on suffering/the american dream side by side with one of Platt's missions sermons. All kinds of messed up ensued!

I think the "good pastors" mess you up because the Holy Spirit is working through the for that purpose. My family is messed up...we are going to be moving to Romania as missionaries! Thank the Lord for His faithfulness.

What about when the pastor says, "If you love Jesus then ..." Talk about a guilt trip.
If you love Jesus then you will be back tonight for the evening service (on Superbowl Sunday even!).
If you love Jesus you will contribute to the building fund
If you love Jesus you will...

yeah, i had a pastor who kept telling 17-year-old me that i was going to bible college. i would tell him about all the other offers and scholarships i'd received from other colleges and he would smile and say, "that's nice, but you're going to bible college." well, 4 years later i have a bible college degree! he really messed me up! (heehee, in a wonderful way!)
