You know, when it comes to the whole magic-disney-HARRY-POTTER-IS-OF-SATAN mindset, i’ve become much more leery. I grew up in that legalism, but as deeper i grow with Christ and the more i observe the world, and especially western culture, i gotta look at it through different eyes.
It seems to me that the enemy is sneakier than that, you know? It’s so easy to get up in arms about the “obvious” stuff and let the “little foxes” get through our defenses.
I mean, what’s going to damage your kids more: watching Disney’s Hercules (obvious fiction), or watching mommy make some snarky comment about dad on a regular basis?
Reading some cute picture book about leprechauns and unicorns (that’s got a moral about sharing at the end), or getting unjustly yelled at during mealtime for something he didn’t do?
I mean, I completely understand that if you look into, say, Harry Potter and you feel convicted for your family over it, then, yeah, totally ditch it. Hundred percent. But i wouldn’t condemn it out of knee-jerk fear.

And really, what’s more rampant and damaging to the Body on a regular basis? A fictional (albeit well researched) fantasy book, or plank-in-your-eye-self-righteousness?

Wow good Ole Lucky Charms huh? This is ONE GOOD REASON why we should read our Bible ! The enemy will in subtle ways sneak his way in to our lives even through something like cereal! And who pays for our (adults)lack of knowledge of the Word our children.Hosea 4:6 My people perish for lack of knowledge because you have rejected my knowledge I also will reject you from being my priest. Since you have forgotten the law of your God, I also will forget your children.Thanks for sharing this God Bless Family!

Go with what the Holy Spirit is speaking to you! Someone in my family has the same assignment 5 years old. I feel the same way . Jesus is the same yesterday today and forever he certainly hasn’t changed his Word!Isaiah 5:20 Woe to those who call evil good and good evil. Read it for yourself.Hosea 4:6 My people are Destroyed for lack of knowledge……Been walking with Christ for about 34 yrs now and am soo grateful for his Word! Leprechauns represent magic as we know and a Christian God says to have Nothing to do with that . He didn’t say only if its just for fun.

Speaking of Lucky Charms cereal, my husband just came home with a box with mystical pictures on it speaking of "The power to teleport is in your hands". It states, "Lucky is still learning the power to teleport. When he throws down his swirled charms there's no telling where he could go. Have fun helping Lucky teleport his way to his favorite cereal."

This certainly teaches children about occult activities.

Stay Away From Occult Activities

The Lord warns us to stay away from such things as wicca/witchcraft, sorcery, palm reading, psychics, tarot card readers, etc. Also things that people attribute “magical” properties to such as crystals or jewelry which claim to heal or give spells to the holder. Be wary of anything labeled “new age”. These are not harmless things. They will give satan a foothold in your life and turn God’s face against you.

If you have ever been involved with these activities please pray to God and repent (ask for forgiveness), turn from repeating these sins and walk in obedience to the Lord.

Isaiah 2:6 You have abandoned your people, the house of Jacob.
They are full of superstitions from the East; they practice divination like the Philistines and clasp hands with pagans.

Galatians 5:19-21 The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.

Malachi 3:5 "So I will come near to you for judgment. I will be quick to testify against sorcerers, adulterers and perjurers, against those who defraud laborers of their wages, who oppress the widows and the fatherless, and deprive aliens of justice, but do not fear me," says the LORD Almighty.

Ezekiel 13:18 'This is what the Sovereign LORD says: Woe to the women who sew magic charms on all their wrists and make veils of various lengths for their heads in order to ensnare people. Will you ensnare the lives of my people but preserve your own?

You may laugh, but Lucky Charms cereal was banned in our house. Not because of the ludicrousness of eating a bunch of artificially colored marshmallows for breakfast, but because they're "magically delicious". My parents even switched off the commercials so that we wouldn't be led astray by the leprechaun.

Wait, didn't three dogs die in that book? Didn't Old Blue ( I think that's his name, the other kid had him) die too?

I will always remember walking through my house reading that book and crying, and that was before I cried at anything.

Great question. If you figure it out, I'd like to know. My kid's teacher gave him the same assignment and spent more time perpetrating the myth of leprechauns than she did Santa Claus. Weird.
