You are a wonderfully gifted writer Jon and I'm sure Satan, oops I mean satan, has had a field day with you, or rather target practice, as you would put it. He's had a field day with me too, in the same area. He pulls me toward blog surfing (I hate to think that happening upon your delightful blog was the work of the enemy, so I'll assume this particular blog surfing was of God), junk e-mail opening, contest entering, and even rearranging ridiculous things on my computer to get me to abandon the work of writing. And it is work, make no bones about it. But I know my "it" is writing. In fact, I just had affirmation of that this morning and now your blog post has nailed that affirmation down with a bang. Thanks for the inspiration. I'm going to throw satan out of my office and get back to work, the work of writing that is, not the work of cleaning my desk or sharpening my pencils.!

Mr Acuff, you are a wise man. I read your posts often and I am never disappointed.
This post is awesome. I laughed, I cried and I saw the hand of God in it.
I come from a wee little place called New Zealand, filled with hobbits and some form of 8ft tall monkey cats…
If you ever need anything from here, all you need do is ask… but do it through a vocoder – I've been listening to the radio to much recently and I may have forgotten how to understand anything else.

John, thanks so much for this post. It really meant a lot to me where I am at right now. I have been getting discouraged a lot about what I am doing because it has been a real challenge for me, but this was a huge encouragement.
