Gonna have to disagree with you there. "Happy Holidays" is basically a way of wishing EVERYBODY well. Not everybody -except- the Christians, but everyone -including- the Christians, you know? "They" didn't switch with the express purpose of pissing of the peeps-o-God, but to be inclusive. You know what i'm saying?
And i must point out that comparing the "phraseology" of wishing somebody well in the month of December is definitely -not- on the same level as communication with our Creator.
Just my thoughts :)

And I realize my last paragraph may come off as overly harsh, I just think that the idea that Christians are persecuted comes with a certain degree of myopia. Yeah, I used to believe it, too, until I looked at how it was for Jews, Muslims, Hindus and atheists and realized that Christians actually have it pretty good.

Considering that most of us who use "Happy Holidays" use it to harp on Christians, but to include people who celebrate Hanukkah, Kwanzaa and other holidays as well as people who celebrate Christmas, or as a greeting in case we're not sure which holiday (if any) the person we know celebrates, it's really hard looking at this from my standpoint and not seeing the campaign against "Happy Holidays" as just plain-old religious intolerance.

And maybe I'll believe that people are actually trying to take the "Christ" out of "Christmas" when I stop hearing "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen" and other explicitly religious Christmas carols every time I walk through a mall in December, and when I stop seeing religious cards and decorations in every Hallmark. People are perfectly fine with religious celebrations of Christmas, we'd just like to celebrate Christmas in our own way as well.

Christians make up 85% of the population of the United States. There are Christian schools to send your kid to everywhere, while other religions' schools are few and far between. Pretty much every town in this country has at least one church; you can't say the same for synagogues or mosques. If there's a religious radio station, it's almost always a Christian one. In other words, Christians are probably the least persecuted group in the U.S. right now, so stop coming up with fake controversies and get off your high horses.

Actually, Christmas started out as a series of pagan holidays, and most of the parts of the holiday that are not explicitly religious (like putting up Christmas trees and wreaths, giving gifts, etc.) came from those holidays which pre-dated Christmas. They only became Christian when the Roman Empire converted to Christianity. So actually, the holiday would very easily exist without Christ, it just wouldn't bear the same name.

Without Christ. Christmas doesn't exist. We came up with the phrase because we celebrate the birth of Christ. Not happy holidays or anything else. We are celebrating the birth of Christ. How would the stores like it if Christmas just stopped. Without celebrating the birth of Christ we have no Christmas and they have no sale.

Sorry I was just being sarcastic. I know that. I was just mocking the way some people get offended over something when they don't even know what they are talking about.
