I know no one is going to read this now that this post is a year old but I need to ask. Shouldn't satan have a caplital S just because it is a name? I get that people think not giving him the capital is a way of saying hes unimportant or bad but as a rule proper names are supposed to be capitalized. I also think this when I see athiests not capitalize God, now I know they don't think he exists but God is a name and shouldn't it have a capital letter because of that even if they don't believe?

isn't it about time Christians led the way in debunking the myth that Satan will be in control of hell? It isn't his 'domain', its his punishment.

Imagine having that fear. It would be hard to get help because you wouldn't be able to tell people what you had without panicking!

The early church Father Origen (185-254AD) held to the possibility that the devil would be saved. For him, the idea that God and Satan would rule over respective kingdoms for all eternity reflected a flawed dualism, and a failure on God's part to be supreme over all creation, and entirely good. For Origen, the final redeemed version of creation cannot include a hell or kingdom of Satan. In the end, all of creation must be restored to God. More contemporary universalists have taken a similar line; “In a universe of love there can be no heaven which tolerates a chamber of horrors.” John AT Robinson.
I'm not convinced - primarily because Jesus himself talks in pretty strong terms about the reality of judgment (e.g. the parable of the wheat and the weeds) though this still leaves the door open to the annihilationist/conditional immortality viewpoint, as an alternative to eternal suffering of the damned.

We speak often in our home the ways in which saton tried to sneak in. I am always struck with awe when I hear how little people realize how he has slithered into a sitution. Where you actually have to say things like..."God is not about confusion", but "saton does the confusing and we then blame God". Cool post.

Its never anything huge, its the little things in life that he capitalizes on and sabotages and encourages me to fall farther from God and my faith. Like occupying all my free time (what little there is) with television and books. Putting strain on friendships in my life that drive us apart. I constantly dwell on the fact that I never thought I would be 24, single, living alone, with hardly any friends to speak of. To sum it up, I am missing God in my life, and satan is rejoicing in my misery.

If bad were eliminated through prayer, there would be no things to tempt us.

I've always been wary of churches that overdo the Satan angle. Especially when the congregation considers university professors and rock stars to be among Satan's minions.

There's no point praying for Satan, because without him, there would be no good God/bad god dichotomy. Almost every religion has one. Without Satan, there's only our warm loving God. And then who gets the blame when people are tempted to do bad things?
