please forgive me for asking questions but i couldnt help but notice your post. i guess i wanted to ask why do u feel like you are wasting time? You say that you have tried everything but how is your relationship with Christ? I don’t think he would encourage you(not to say that he has) to leave the church especially if you are really trying to get somewhere

hey i just wanted to leave a comment.i see that you say that the gift of helps was invented by people…well this is not true.the bible actually talks about the gift of helps in 1 cor 12:28 28And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues. i dont agree with what the pastor said about not being able to help out around the church because everyone should can help do something simple such as clean.its everyone’s responsibility

if u are a christian you should first start with the bible and then speak to Godly leaders who can guide you in the right direction. you can also pray for direction. the bible tells us in 1 cor 12 that every believer has a gift so if u say that u are a christian and you dont have spiritual gifts go to the bible and see for yourself. God talks about spiritual gifts in romans 12:6-8 too

I am a very strong believer but God has not given me any spiritual gifts. what does one do when they have no spiritual gifts or natural talent and they are no good for anything like me.

I do have the spiritual gift of helps and I think the difference between me and someone who might not is that I find contentment, joy, and a sense of Godly peace in helping out. It's not a chore or a hassle, it's a joy that I purposely work into my schedule. So do I think some people don't have that gift? For sure! And I would prefer they didn't try to act like they did because working with someone who doesn't like what they're doing is kinda lame.

I have been going regularly to church for 18 years and have tried to get involved. I have tried everything from car duty to mission work and inbetween and have failed at every thing I attempted, the church has never let me down.I left church two years ago and never been back.I feel I am just wasting my time.

I just want to say that I am really, really bad at helping clean stuff. I just don't even know what to do a lot of the time. I stand there, ready to help, but I need somebody to tell me what to do, specifically. I'm generally oblivious to what needs doing, anyway. I see people running around doing stuff, like super-industrious bees, and it looks like everything's covered to me, and I'm not sure where to pitch in, frankly I feel in the way. I'm happy to help do anything except wash dishes, but I'm also clueless. Seriously, it's awkward.

So if you do have the "gift of Helps", or are just an industrious person, and at clean-up time you notice me, standing around awkwardly, just ask me if I could do _______, and give me whatever tool I need (broom, sponge) to accomplish the same. Thanks!

Honestly! I think my daughter has the gift of sneezing. The most amazing thing is that in almost a year she has not sneezed on me. Really! She sneezes on everyone else but not me. She sneezes just nano-seconds after she has been around me though but not on me. WHY! I don't know but I noticed it and started thanking God everytime she sneezed and it was not on me because at one time it hit me ALL THE TIME. So what is God doing? He knows every move I make apparently and is orchastrating my life. Do you think He knows when I sit down and when I get up? The bible says He does .

On the other hand, if you explained it to them, they would know how to do it the next time and you would actually save yourself from headaches and interruption in the long run.

Actually, "gift of helps" is a valid spiritual gift. "And God has appointed in the church, first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, administrations, various kinds of tongues." 1 cor 12:28. I think that's my gift, actually. I like to help out in the practical things, so thats usually what I volunteer for. However, I concur that using that as an excuse not to help out when you're standing there and people need help is way lame.
