[...] having read jon’s blog for some time, one thing that i really felt was missing from this book was more from jon’s wednesday segment ‘serious wednesdays.’ this is the part of the show where ‘most’ of the sarcasim gets set aside for something that jon and God are dealing with. the last segment of the book entitled ‘saturday night cryfest.’ (refering to the mountain top experience of the last night of a church retreat or summer camp) but it seems more tacked on and is nothing compared to how jon can describe God’s love. So needed to read this today. I love a comeback, too. A comeback equals hope. A comeback equals faith. A comeback equals someone becoming or doing what they set out to do. And maybe, most importantly, a comeback equals a testimony…a testimony that shows the rest of us that we can do it too.

Some time ago, I realized that many of my favorite movies are comeback stories. Specifically, they are about a person who is something great, then gets severely derailed, then gets back on track to who he's supposed to be. I'll put your movie Man on Fire at the top of that list, but also add Cinderella Man, Princess Bride, The Legend of Bagger Vance, Gladiator, and many more.
