Short Saturdays – Let’s talk quiet

Today, at about 6AM, the Acuff family is headed to Savannah, GA. I’m speaking tonight at a college retreat with a church I love called the Well.

I get up at 5:15 on most mornings. I usually find an empty conference at work before the day starts or sit in my car in the parking lot to do my quiet time. (If I try to do it at home before I leave for work I can mentally hear traffic piling up on the Atlanta highways and get too distracted.)

I’m on the verge of closing out a walk through the Bible in one year program that has taken me approximately two years. Sometimes I read books like “Crazy Love” in the morning. Sometimes I listen to worship music. I try to journal everyday.

But with the one year/two year study wrapping up, I’m looking for something new for my quiet time. (Isn’t that such a funny Christian phrase, “quiet time?”)

What do you do for yours?

What do you suggest?

What have you found works for you?

What doesn’t?

Let’s talk quiet.
