I think that the perception that “authority” implies worth or value is one that the world clings to and Satan LOVES. Jesus submitted fully to the authority of the Father- does that mean that God is more valuable, capable, or worth more than Jesus? Impossible. I hope that you will grow to find that submitting to the authority that God has put above you causes you to better understand what it means for you to submit to God.

I’m a college freshman and a feminist and you have no idea how true this is! Everytime a pastor even mentions that verse, my family rolls their eyes and braces themselves for my anger. I seriously do not like that verse. I understand that “submit” can be taken out of context, and it is supposed to portray something good, but I just hate that word. The only time it comes up is when I’m doing MMA, and even then, no one gets me to submit. haha. My mom always says, “So you don’t believe God then?” And I say, “No, I submit to God. My husband is out of luck.” haha. My boyfriend is a feminist too though, so I think we’re good.

Smurfee – Please please please tell me you’re joking. “My husband . . . has the final word on big decisions and purchases.” So you think that God intended for one person to have authority and the final say and power because they were born with a penis and you weren’t? I don’t know about you, but I personally had no control over the gender I was born with. Also, does having a penis make you more intelligent, better educated, or just a better over-all person? The philosophy you’re describing is blatantly prejudice and oppressive to women. I doubt a just God would endorse such an unjust idea. Please check yourself before you wreck yourself, and stop making other women look like worthless ding-bats. And get an education.

I was laughing so hard at this post and anticipating rubbing it in my husband’s face. Then I got to the timed back rub comment. Man. I so time my back rubs for my husband. My hands get tired! Now I am torn.
