The confession and the invitation.
I do not read enough of the Bible. That is the confession.
I am writing a daily devotional. That is the invitation.
A few days ago, I started writing a super short devotional on my other site, 97secondswithGod.com.
Each piece is really short and explores where life and the Bible intersect. I started in Genesis and will do one post for each chapter in the Bible. For chapters that are just long lists of names I will probably tell jokes and or limericks for that particular day.
The questions I would ask if I were you are:
What kind of narcissist needs two sites?
Won’t you be too busy?
To the first question I would say this is just the outpouring of my desire to spend more time in the Bible and invite people I dig, you, into it with me.
As far as being busy, I don’t feel that way at all. I admit, I write a lot. But in addition to having amazing readers like you that help generate the ideas, I really feel like I am doing what God made me to do. I’ve pushed against Him in other parts of my life and it felt like trying to overturn a brick wall while standing on ice. Just frustrating and hard. But right now, with the writing for this site and the other, it feels easy and natural. I by no means am trying to say I’m doing some crazy big God thing but just that I feel like all I have to do is show up to the blank page and He takes care of the rest.
So if you like limericks and want a different look at the Bible, come visit 97secondswithGod.com
Chapter 4 will be posted tonight and is about the Algerian desert’s desperate fight with the forest.
