Thanks for mentioning that book! Good example of Bono talking about his faith, and the band U2. They have a long, and at times, quite tenuous history of faith, through life lived, and songs written.

The whole, “if a Christian artist covers it we will play it” Christian radio station thing really frosts me. Seriously? It is an appropriate song if Chris Tomlin is singing it, but not Bono? No. It is a lame cover of a great song. I got nothing against Tomlin and his talent, but this, and the general crappiness of most CCM is why I take my chances on the rest of the channels and (gasp!) think for myself!

Bono wins. Kirk Cameron isn't exactly well known in the UK – famous in America doesn't mean world famous. Although I hear (from Wikpedia) that Growing Pains is very popular in China.

A-men. I really don’t get why people are so concerned about whether or not Bono has a “repentant heart” or has publicly professed Jesus Christ and his Lord and Savior. Look at what the guy is doing, for goodness’ sake.

I heard it said once (and unfortunately, I don’t remember who said it) that Christians tend to get priorities confused: we worry about our neighbors’ souls and our own bodily needs, when we need to concentrate on exactly the opposite. A person’s state of repentance or “salvation” is between them and God, whereas if they are suffering in this physical world, we are driven to help them, as a sign of our understanding of God’s grace and the power of his love. Bono has his priorities exactly right. Would that the rest of us did.
