The Swedish government was responsible for the most iron ore the Nazis received. Kiruna-Gällivare ore fields in Northern Sweden were all important to Nazi Germany.

These massive deliveries of iron ore and military facilities from Sweden to Nazi Germany lengthened World War II. Casualties of the war have been estimated at 20 million killed in Europe. How many of them died due to Sweden’s material support to Nazi Germany, is not known.

The Swedish drinking toast (skal) has a rather macabre background; it originally meant ‘skull’. The word has come down from a custom practiced by the warlike and terrorist Vikings who used the dried-out skulls of their enemies as drinking mugs, with the evident advantage that the mug held a large quantity of mead and could be easily replaced.

The Viking raids are remembered: Spanish-speaking mothers warn their children that if they do not behave, the Norwegian (el noruego) will carry them off.

If by “most accurate” you mean “most against gender-inclusive language even when this approach creates unnecessary distortion of the original meaning,” then yeah, the ESV is one of the most “accurate” versions out there.

No translation is perfect; we are *always* at the mercy of the translators’ biases and choices.

NRSV can be found here also : http://bible.oremus.org/ It has bugged me for a while it's not on Bible Gateway since it's one of my favourites (along with NASB, TNIV, and NLT for something 'lighter') KJV and NKJV I'm finding get it wrong in so many places I can't understand why anyone would go there any more.

One finds education in the oddest places! Thank you for this thread and to the person who recommended the NET, I'm interested in trying to recover historic details about women's spirituality and religious practice, so I need the most accurate and properly foot-noted version. Oh, and if anyone ever pulls a 'the KJV is the only real bible' on you, direct them to read the surviving love letters between King James and the Duke of Buckingham. I'm tempted to quote one passage in particular, but I'll restrain myself for fear of scorching delicate sensibilities.
