When my family and i first moved to Vegas, I initially felt - as many have conveyed here - the same sense of uncertainty about the town. I can say that the Las Vegas Strip is an anomaly at best. A place were people visit drawn to the bright lights, dazzle, and peculiarities of the city as projected by Hollywood. The reality is, the people that do live here and raise their families are typically very conservative and are drawn together to worship in faith. I belong to a community called Holy Spirit Catholic Church, and I invite those of you who wonder what Vegas truly means to those Christian living here to visit the church's site at http://holyspiritlv.org and view the testimonials offered by their members.

I live in Las Vegas and I am a Christian and actually I was on staff at a church out here. We call this town Grace City. God is moving big time here and yes, our own backyards are mission fields. I LOVE IT!!

It's not legal in Vegas. It's legal everywhere else except Washoe and Clark counties.

Just fyi: prostitution is not legal in Clark or Washoe counties – Vegas and Reno. you have to drive an hour outside of town for that…

everyone tells me i would love Vegas, that the strip is gorgeous at night. It is wicked hot there though, so I would not be outside that much.

I am believer and GREW UP in Las Vegas…

Contrary to popular belief, people actually live there, have a job that is not related to the casino industry or the strip clubs etc, send their children to school, and *gasp* go to church….

besides, random statistic about Reno, NV (where I currently live and go to school) is one of the most UNCHURCHED populations in the nation……

LOL! I live in Vegas and people are either really disappointed when they meet me (Aw you’re from Vegas? We’ll never be able to be friends) or really awestruck (My God, Vegas? Bless your soul! How do you do it?) or…really geeked. Super geeked. (Vegas? James, get over here! This girl is from VEGAS…you know…*whisper* Vegas! Vegas? Wow! Bob, get over…she’s from Vegas! Yeah, someone from VEGAS is at this CHRISTIAN CONFERENCE! Come see!!) Like saying the name of the conference is going to suddenly remind me that I flew 2000 miles to end up in the wrong place. Ech.
