Oh, I hate Christian Fiction with a passion (most of it is so cheesy and preachy). It seems to all be about Amish people and The End Times (don't even get me started on Left Behind. At age 12, I knew that series was terribly written. Of course, at age 12, my favourite writer was Edgar Allan Poe, but that's besides the point.)
The worst offender would have to be teh Elsie Dinsmore books. Eek.

I didn't read all the comments, but did everyone (by everyone I mean guys) see the double references to the Patrick Swayze movie Roadhouse? "Dalton" and "Randlehouse". Maybe "Dalton" should enter a bar and convert all the regulars to Christ. But only after beating the big bad guys up. With a Bible wrapped in a titanium cozie.

I've never read the book, but I have seen the movie adaptation of The Last Sin Eater by Francine Rivers. Basically,a village in Appalachia has a weird pagan ritual in which a member of the group is chosen to be a "sin eater". That is, someone who will eat the sins of the village. This person is outcast from the village and is regarded as unclean. The sin eater legend has been a part of this village for generations. SPOILER ALERT!! DO NOT READ FURTHER IF YOU DON'T WANT THE STORY SPOILED!!! Along comes a missionary, and within a matter of days, he manages to spread the gospel through the whole village, the entire village, including the sin eater, accepts Christ as their Lord and Savior, the sin eater is reunited with the village, including his love, and the village lives happily ever after. Again, this all happens within a matter of days, with a touching conversion of the sin eater at the climax. If this were in any way realistic, every single missionary in Asia and Africa needs to be fired, because they have been trying to convert people for centuries. But it's not realistic. People ans societies don't just change on a dime like that. It takes years of prayerful guidance, friendship, trust, healing, and teaching. And of course, we are led to believe that this missionary is not a "Super-Missionary," just a regular guy with a heart for God.
BTW, the guy who plays the missionary is the guy who played Elliot in E.T.

The sad thing is, this post was just a joke and there will be no novel forthcoming from Dalton Acuff.

Christian romance parody, anyone? Hey, I think I just got an idea for a book!

Agreed. Rivers' "Mark of the Lion" series started out well, but by the time the third book came out, it was pretty much an excuse to throw Bible verses at the reader.

I think there should be a Christian romance novel where Christian mascots fall in love. There would be trampolines, flaming rings, and Christian passion.
