If it's a friend, I squeeze as hard as I can to cause discomfort. if it's somone I don't know, I only let them hold a few fingers and drop it ASAP.

the worst thing is when someone puts their hand in the air or does any other worship-esqe gesture while still holding my hand... when all the blood rushes from my arm and I can't hold it up any longer, I can't take it down, because it's in my neighbor's death-grip hand-hold and to forcefully remove it would distract them from their worship... a huge no-no!

The holding a dead fish- It seems like to me, everytime I hold hands with someone, I always get this weak hand hold, almost like a dead fish... I mean, I know the situation can be akward, but its 10000% worse when you are doing all the work to keep the hand/dead fish afloat and in the hair... I think people to it because they think it makes it easier to slip out of it, idk...just, akward...

I always viewed the squeeze as the part of the countdown. In Jesus' name (Ready), Amen, (Set), squeeze (GO!) If the person next to you doesn't actually listen to the prayer, it's his cue to LET GO RIGHT NOW!

I'm falling over laughing because this is exactly how I learned to hold hands growing up in a Baptist church. My husband had to teach me how to hold hands in a romantic way when we started dating. He had to teach me how to hug, too. So awkward!

One time on a youth trip we dubbed lacing fingers the highest form of intimacy. And we'd go around with our hands in the air, pretending they were laced with Jesus, yelling, "The highest form!" So. Freakin. Funny.

My brother likes to scratch sundry parts of his body while holding hands in prayer. And he ALWAYS interlinks his fingers because he knows it will annoy you. But he's my brother. And needs a lot of prayer.

I love #3. Great stuff. But I for one always thought it was kinda the rule to give a tiny (not really intimate, per se) squeeze at the end of a prayer. maybe not general handholding, but definitely at the end of the prayer. And as for number 1, i had a really cool experience at a summer camp. It's a camp in Missouri called Camp Barnabas (if anyone is looking into new mission trips for their church, especially youth, please check it out at www.campbarnabas.org) for people with special needs. The volunteers are paired one-on-one with a camper. Every night we had "family time" with the volunteers and counselors from each cabin. My awesome cabin staff had us interdigitate (interlock fingers) since the first night. It's a great way to awkwardly force people to get close.
