There is a such thing as bear spray. I work at REI and we sell it there, we have to keep it behind the counter because it's rumored that someone once set off a can of bear spray in a store and they had to shut it down for the better part of a week and have the entire place fumigated. There were hazmat suits and everything. I made that last part up. It's $29.95 a bottle. Not sure if it'll do much for divorces, but it should help protect against bear mauling endemic which is blazing its way through your neighborhood.

Maybe you've already posted this and I haven't read it, but I'd expand this one to 'believing all Christian marriages are happy'. Marital problems are THE number one taboo subject in the church, worse than sex or money, as far as I can tell. So anyone with concerns gets counseled to just love their spouse and pray and God will sort it all out. Yeah, that makes it VERY easy to get caught off guard by divorce.

I'm still single but my parents got divorced when I was 5 and my sister was 7. I think there is a lot you can do by just talking about your problems. Counseling or something similar could have made a world of difference.
I never really minded, cared, or thought about my parents being divorced until I got a little older and looked around my church at all the happy little families and wondered what could've been.
Having children won't fix a marriage and won't make your spouse stay. Trust me. My mom tried.

"Spray reaches 12 to 30 ft. and empties in approximately 7 sec."

"Use with extreme caution—if not used properly, it can disable the user, rather than the bear"

While I find both of these statements about bear spray hysterical, there's something to be said about comparing it to marriage. I'm a child of divorce. Both my parents remarried other people that were divorced once before. If you don't believe in generational sin just take a look. My sisters avoided the whole issue by having kids without the thought of marriage. It messes people up. Badly.
My mom's second marriage ended and it was necessary. There are legitimate reasons for divorce but they are few and far between. In a society of instant gratification, it's a quick fix.

Marriage between a man and woman is supposed to be a reflection of Christ and the church. Gnaw on that for a minute.

I can't speak for other people, but I will say that there are people out there who won't judge you for your "no fault" divorce. If your man leaves, the Bible says let him go. You are a free woman in the sight of the Lord.
I don't think Jon was cracking on people who are blindsided by divorce, but those who don't take the commitment seriously and aren't doing their all to keep their marriage steady and happy.

i agree. or think about the people who had to leave a marriage because of abuse. it's not fair to make blanket statements. i hope you've found a church that doesn't judge you for your past. ::hugs::

I was going to let him know about that too, so I'm glad someone did. Bears are scary.

I’m married and if you are too then statistically speaking, one of us is going to get a divorce.

You can relax. It's me.
