I love Halloween and zombies. Really love zombies.

We did often go to the Harvest Festival at our church... and then later went Trick or Treating!

Oooh. I just found this website and can I say, it MADE.MY.DAY. My mum told me that in the church I grew up in in France (that she still attends), they once held an alternative 'Feast of Lights' on Halloween to protest against the whole thing. They dressed like angels all in white (bedsheets and all that) and held candles and went round the streets proclaiming God's light. Had I been there, I would have been 1. hiding in the crowd talking pictures 2. stayed at home to avoid the cringe-fest 3. Gone to a real scary Halloween party in protest.

We had a Harvest Party where we had to dress up as Bible characters. This is actually pretty awesome for Halloween because there is some pretty grusome stuff in the Bible. I went as Jael when I was 12. She is a woman in the Old Testament who killed a man by driving a tent peg through his head. I painted a railroad spike with red paint. It was awesome. You can also go as Lazarus...or a leper. Our paster went as a dog one year as an allusion to the verse where the dogs come and lick Lazarus' wounds. You can have a lot of fun with Harvest parties. In all seriousness though...this seems to be a tricky issue. Because if you are really against celebrating Halloween shouldn't you not bother with a celebration at all? I'm not sure...but my husbands parents didn't let them do anything on Oct. 31st. My parents let us do it all....we got to do both the Harvest Party and trick-or-treating. Heathens...

Actually, it is just about the same. Christianity and Catholicism aren't opposite. They both have the same basic foundation of beliefs.

Add Santa and the Easter Bunny to the mix and you have the trifecta.

We could just be honest and say that they're all lies of unbelievers.

All Hallow's Eve has Catholic origins. That's not the same as having Christian origins.

BAHAHA

I love this blog. For serious.

At my church, instead of doing a Halloween Party, we called them "Hallelujah" parties.

And we all dressed up as different Bible characters. And then all played a game to guess who was who.

Yes, I'm absolutely serious. At least we got home-made goodies from everybody...
