Oh, Lock-ins. Last one I went to, they made us watch One Night With the King, and I drank about a liter of Mountain Dew. I wish I was still young enough for youth group.

Lock-ins are tough on youth workers, but they work if:

A) You have plenty of adults stationed at every single place a teen can go.
B) Parameters are established, and if broken the teens get sent home.
C) There are engaging activities that wont get them bored and want to do silly things.
D)Do not let them drive home! What were the parents thinking!

If never had a problem at a lock-in in my last 12 years of ministry except for the occasional drywall hole. You just have to set expectations high and

In the 1980's, our church lock-ins included lots of activities outside the church and then back to the church for the remainder of the night. Guys and girls were placed in a room and the lights turned out with no adult supervision! This happened on numerous occasions! It's a wonder no one turned up pregnant!

Flash forward to present day. We are the youth leaders, patrol the hallways and attempt to keep an eye on everyone. To stay awake, we find an area of the church to clean. The kids love it and beg to have lock-ins. My husband says he'd rather have elective oral surgery than have a lock-in. Nice analogy!

My youth group built a fire in the church parking lot and scorched the pavement. To cover it up we parked the church van over it.

I remember that video! While I was already saved by the time I saw it, it still affected me a lot. Was really cheesy though.

Makes sense though. Laser tag places are dark, and with lots of crevices to hide in. o_o

I never went to a lock-in, though my church had a few. My only really good friend at church didn't like them, so I never went. Sounds like I missed a good time. ;)

One of my seminary professors last semester called lock-ins an "invitation to fornication." Never thought of it that way until then (being that I'm only in my early 20s and only a couple years past the lock-in/youth group stage), but it is so very true.

I like how you use "like" a lot. Very teenagerish. And that sounds fun to me! (considering I'm a teenager and we appeal to crazy off-the-wall things!)
