It's evil when your mom washes your mouth out with soap when you say it in front of her. Which means you never say it (in front of her) again. And if you're raised Catholic, you feel guilty about it and confess it to the priest. Who then asks you what you said and when you repeat it he sniggers...

That is a little horrible, though. To come in during the 'concert' part. But it isn't the fault of the worship team or even the person, it's just our perception of things. If I walked into a room and saw a man on top of a woman, I wouldn't automatically think "Oh, he is helping her to not choke".

I think he meant the excitement of a concert rather than the bored, I'm-standing-up-and-singing-but-I-don't-want-to-because-I'm-tired-and-grumpy response you get from a good amount of people on Sundays. You could argue that the music, the worship leader, the choir, of the building itself "detracts" from worship because it takes attention away from God. While we shouldn't go out of our way to hoodwink people into having a good time, church is for everyone and SHOULD be for everyone- not just older people who like to hear "Good Ole Gospel Ship" every Sunday. Yes, I have been to a church where they would do this. Yes, it took the loving grace of the dear baby Jesus to keep me from flying into a rage and whipping people with rope. I mean, Jesus did it, so it can't be wrong. . . right?

I don't have a problem with crazy light shows. However, my church does not have lasers. We do have lights that we use creatively, but no lasers. Maybe I will make a suggestion. ;)

We don't have lasers...I am SO going to talk to our production lead about this! Although we do have a group of guys that gather to record and produce a mini intro video for every sermon series we do. That's pretty sweet!
