So... no art in a church? No stained glass windows. No wooden crosses. No banners. Can we even paint the walls? Or should they be left bare. In order for your statement to be true, we would have to determine if a tattoo is degrading.

I very well could be wrong but I thought the tattoo mentioned on this page was actually on the show Miami Ink and not LA ink. If I'm wrong please tell me so, I have really admired that tattoo and would like to know if that is indeed the one I saw.

My husband says that he will drive a motorcycle to my funeral, quickly followed up by driving to the place where they will take you up in a plane and push you off with a parachute. Because, you see, I will be dead and won't be able to ask him what in the world is he thinking anyway.

David has it right. If we have died to ourselves and Christ now owns us, that means the temple we live in belongs to Him. That said, no matter how pretty the picture is, it's considered vandalism and offensive when someone paints on property that doesn't belong to them without permission.

Now if God has given you permission and you know this in your hear to be true that's a different story. For me personally God has not asked me to do this but I would dare not judge others for something that God may have asked them to do.

But see that depends on your definition of art. What is vandalism to one may reach out and touch someone else with its beauty.

i have met more people and changed their views on what a christian 'should' look like because of my tattoos. i have a icon of jesus on my right arm a with 'to live is christ to die is gain' under it. i admit its along the same lines of the girl with the jesus fish, but it has helped me. i felt called to live amongst the fringe subcultures of backpackers and homeless people, punks...generally people that christians pity or evangelize to (the amount of well meaning people that have tried to save me because of my appearance is is hilarious! no matter how many times i tell them i am a christian, yes really, 'born again', and they wont believe me!:)
anyway while i was living on the street (validly, i had everything stolen on the 2nd day i was in a different country) and traveling by myself i realized i could be anyone i wanted. i had no accountability and decided it was a good time to get a prominent tattoo that was not easy to hide and let even non christians call me to account, because right away they could see i was associating myself with Christ. all my tattoos have meaning, mostly major messages, or lessons from God that i dont want to forget and that give me tons of opportunity to meet people and share abit of what God has done in my life.
on a side note i was super blessed to find a christian man who was tatted up as me and we got married recently. we can grow old and wrinkled and tattooed together:)

Brother, blurting out scripture in part is often the down fall of those who are willing to witness, but end up judging instead. Read scripture in it's whole form, full chapters tell the story and give the true intention of the reading. I am strong in my faith and don't often like to comment in this manner, yet I don't approve of scripture being used like ammunition, especially against the saved. I have tattoos that make biblical reference, yet they are for me, not others. Praise Jesus.
