I dare you not to stand in this spot.
A few weeks ago, I went to the American Idol stage at Disney. My friend works there and gave us a tour.
I noticed this on the floor during the tour and took a photo.

It’s a simple sign that lets the contestants know where they are supposed to stand after they sing.
They don’t get judged where they perform. They take a few steps forward to be judged, they move a few feet away from where they sing.
And so do you sometimes.
So do I sometimes.
We do our dream.
We write our books.
We take our pictures.
We start our businesses.
And we are happy in that spot. That spot feels like home. We’ve waited so long to be in that spot. But then we stop singing.
We put down our microphone or our blog or our business.
We take steps away from what we’re called to do and stand somewhere people can now judge us.
Stop.
Don’t do it.
Quit that.
Let’s not stand on that spot this year.
You don’t have to. Whether it’s strangers or friends or even family members, you don’t have to go to that spot. I promise.
Let’s not walk away from our dreams for a minute, a second even, to be judged by people who aren’t singing themselves.
