How do you get paid for doing your dream?

Creativity/ Quitter June 8, 2011Comments

That’s a question I hear a lot. And it’s a great question to ask. I love that question. My friend Ben Arment, who is speaking at the Quitter Conference, is a genius at helping people answer that question. And it’s a question I asked myself a thousand times when I started leaning into my dream.

But it’s the wrong question to ask first.

When you’re working on your dream, don’t begin by asking, “How do I get paid for doing my dream?”

Start by asking, “How do I get great at doing my dream?”

If you get great at doing your dream, regardless of what it is, money will come eventually. I promise. Money tends to follow greatness. Money has a hard time keeping itself away from greatness. I’m not sure the same thing can be said when you reverse the process.

I’ve met plenty of people who started with lots of money but had no real dream or no real passion or no real greatness.

All the money in the world can’t manufacture a great passion if the passion isn’t there first.

Start with greatness.

Question:
Have you ever got paid for doing something you love?
